That’s a wrap! Our 2023 year in review

 

As we kick off 2024, we can’t help but look back on all the great things that happened this past year.

In short, flag football had some big moments. Here’s a closer look at everything NFL FLAG accomplished this year, all thanks to our partners, families and league organizers. 

Flag football grew in popularity—big time

 

More than 650,000 total NFL FLAG athletes participated in NFL FLAG last year, a 12% growth in registrations year over year. Even more, flag football became a sanctioned girls high school varsity sport in 8 states. And we’re even seeing a path to college for female players. 

Also, Pro Bowl saw a new format featuring flag football and—one of our favorite moments—flag football was officially voted to become a new sport in the 2028 Olympics. 

Like we said, it was quite a year for flag football. 

NFL FLAG tournaments

 

Once again, NFL FLAG hosted 22 regional tournaments nationwide and even featured a new tournament—the All 32 Summer Invitational—showcasing each NFL club.

We celebrated the NFL FLAG Championships at Pro Bowl Games, and participated in 34 NFL Club Clinics and Showcases. 

 

The year of the league operator

 

We happily welcomed 450+ new league operators to our squad and saw over 400 of them at our annual Summit this past year.

We’re continuously working to improve and deepen our connections with league operators, as we know they’re the heart of our programming. We're so grateful for each and every one of you!

 

Staying connected

 

We grew closer to our participants, parents, coaches, and league operators by connecting with them on social media—a whopping 220,280 followers.

We saw some viral moments (like this one) and loved collaborating with our NFL partner. 

 

We’re so excited to see what 2024 has in store!
